RARE Brazilian Inlaid Butterfly Tray by Daniel Teixeira

Up for sale is this gorgeous Brazilian inlaid butterfly try by Daniel Teixeira. The pattern is created with real Morpho Butterfly wings placed under glass and mounted into a dark hardwood tray with a lighter-toned inlay. Butterfly-wing artwork was an indigenous art form in Brazil and South America from the late 19th to mid-20th century. It is evidenced in the iridescent and luminous blue and green tones of the Morpho Butterfly’s wings – they diffract and scatter light, almost appearing to change colours. Morpho butterflies are found in the rainforests of South America. This unique piece is in excellent condition and comes with original Galeria de Arte Brasileira, Sao Paulo sticker. The tray measures 13 inches long (with handles), 9 1/4 inches wide and 1 1/2 inches tall.
