Beautiful Vintage 6 1/2" Cloisonne Enamel Bowl with Floral Motif

Beautiful Cloisonne enamel bowl with floral motif. The exterior and interior are black with ornate gold details and colourful floral design. The bowl has a gold rim as well as a round gold foot/pedestal. Overall this piece is in great condition for its age with some minor dings and pits on the exterior and gold rim.

Measures 6 1/2 inches across the top, and 2 inches tall.

"Cloisonné is an ancient technique for decorating metalwork objects with coloured material held in place or separated by metal strips or wire, normally of gold. In recent centuries, vitreous enamel has been used, but inlays of cut gemstones, glass and other materials were also used during older periods; indeed cloisonné enamel very probably began as an easier imitation of cloisonné work using gems. The resulting objects can also be called cloisonné."
